Thursday, March 12, 2009 — A 22 year old graduating student was found dead by his mother inside his bedroom last week in Las Piñas City.
The official report just came out yesterday from the Station Investigation and Detective Management Section of the Las Piñas City Police in regards to the death of Christopher D. Yam Lee – a nursing student of University of Perpetual Help Rizal who lives at 1001 Domingo Poblete Street, BF Almanza 1, – after the family of Chris requested for an autopsy report at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The victim should be graduating this April when he was shot in the head by his former live-in partner after the victim refused to re-forge their relationship with his ex-girlfriend/live-in partner.
According to SP02 Aristitotle Raguinon, the victim’s body was found by his mother, Melinda, last Friday afternoon in the victim’s bedroom at their huge house at Domingo Poblete Street, BF Alamanza, 1 Las Piñas City. Melinda tried to rush her son to a nearby clinic but was already declared dead because of a sustained gunshot wound of an unknown calibre at the victim’s skull.
As ordered immediately by Senior Supt. Amando Clipton Empiso, captain of the Las Piñas Police, the authorities went after the suspect who was identified as Rochelle Costa (click here to see photo of the suspect), 24 years old – who resides in Sampaguita Street, Barangay CAA BF International, Las Piñas City – yet the suspect is nowhere to be found.
It was found out that it has been three weeks that the victim, Yam Lee, is already separated with his live-in partner, after four years of living together. It was said that Yam Lee assumed and realized that Costa was having an affair – after seeing all the SMS and chat messages that Costa was receiving from someone else.
It was said that Costa asked help on the victim’s mother so that Costa could save her four-year relationship with Yam Lee but the mother let her son deal with the issue between the two.
It was noted that Costa went to Yam Lee’s place around 9:00am yesterday while the Yam Lee’s mother is away and the two tried to resolve their issue.
Around 9:00pm when Elizabeth Domingo, aunt of the victim heard a loud bang. The aunti dismisses the sound that Yam Lee might have been watching a movie.
It was already Friday when the victim’s body was found. It was said that Melinda went to the victim’s bedroom with the intent on giving the money that the victim needs to pay for his tuition fee when she found Yam Lee’s body.
Police speculated that the suspect left Yam Lee’s house at dawn. Police also pondered how the victim was able to receive a gunshot wound on his skull when the suspect has a rather small frame or height. They’re also running some tests on the the weapon that has been used against the victim.
